Ggs Information Last Image

Gigs & Graphics will feature talks from music industry professions including; iconic local band Stealing Sheep, poster designers and founders of The UK Poster Association, Luke Drozd and Graham Pilling (aka Army of Cats), music video director, James Slater and music industry veteran, tour manager and lecturer, Phil Pethybridge.

The aim is to inspire and connect people who make a living, or strive to, in the intersection between art and music. The team behind Gigs & Graphics want to become a regular feature in Liverpool’s cultural landscape and bring together artists, musicians and industry folk in a relaxed, fun and interesting environment!

Gigs & Graphics will also have nine very limited edition prints for bands playing Sound City 2018. Some highlights include; Luke Drozd printing a Sunset Sons poster, That Girl Prints printing for King Kahn and the Shrines, and Stealing Sheep who will be designing a poster for their own Sound City performance. The proceeds of these exclusive prints will go towards raising money for the Youth Music Trust.

Jo (The Paper Moon Print Studio) & Scott (Toucan Tango), who are helping organise Gigs & Graphics, both agree that their intro into gig posters was from Screenadelica, curated by HORSE, AKA Gary McGarvy, who has worked with Sound City since its early days. As Gary is taking a break this year, the Gigs & Graphics team wanted to make sure this great tradition continued, and have invited a selection of international artists who make gig posters to display their work, and celebrate this great medium that perfectly marries art and music.

For those that enjoy music and art - make your way down to Northern Lights & Hinterlands on Thursday night for a chat with industry professionals and see some incredible artwork! Or drop in over the weekend. The work on display will be for sale and you can snap up some limited edition work.

Throughout the weekend there will also be a selection of gig photography, visual arts, records, live printing, music and Liverpool music memorabilia.

Gigs and Graphics launches with an industry day and launch night on the 3rd of May.
